This painting was heavily inspired by the strong platonic relationships in my life. I believe in chosen family, and many of the close friendships I have I value just as much (if not more) than my own family and romantic partners. I have noticed that in a world obsessed with finding a "soulmate" that people often let their friendships slip through the cracks, or even abandon them when they find "the one." I think we should change the way we see our friends and start valuing them as much as any relationship.
